Overview

This role serves as a partner to people managers across the organization, providing consultation on human resource-related issues and the resolution of workforce relations issues.

 

The HR Business Partner seeks to objectively understand to accurately diagnose problem in order to offer potential solutions, including an assessment of risks associated with each option. Where broader solutions may be needed, the HR Business Partner collaborates with others on the HR Business Partner Services team and/or HR centers of excellence to develop solutions.

 

Workforce relations matters are handled in a way that seeks to preserve the dignity of each person involved while influencing accountability for performance and behavior, mitigating risk to the organization, and recognizing when to escalate to HR leadership and/or legal counsel, when appropriate.

 

This requires the ability to listen objectively, accurately diagnose problems, execute tactical plans efficiently, and influence people managers consistent with Landmark values, policy and culture—keeping Joe and Josephine at the center of our decisions. It also requires an effective level of business acumen, understanding of the business’s financial position, mid-range plans, challenges, opportunities and organizational culture.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the business-facing relationships with people managers and stewards matters to resolution while engaging HR centers of excellence for subject matter expertise when appropriate.
  • Provides management consultation and tactical guidance on front-line workforce issus, including job design and compensation-related recommendations in collaboration with the HR compensation center of excellence.
  • Analyzes data to aid in the development of solutions and advising management.
  • Identifies and consults on leader and employee training and development needs.
  • May act as a liaison for a certain HR centers of excellence or functional disciplines on behalf of the HR Business Partner team (i.e. onboarding/offboarding, leaves of absence, talent management, employee relations and policy, talent acquisition, etc.).
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, including related coaching of people managers. Maintains in-depth knowledge of company policy and legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as appropriate.
  • Investigate and/or supervise investigations into allegations of unwelcome behavior, harassment, discrimination, retaliation and matters affecting employer/employee relations or compliance with regulations.
  • Serves as an Equal Employment Opportunity subject matter expert with accountability for strategic and tactical decision making on complex employee relations matters, including the intersection of leave of absence regulations and ADA/AA regulations.
  • Identifies opportunities for internal HR process improvements, assesses the value and impact of potential changes and recommending improvements as appropriate.
  • Lead HR projects and/or workgroups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably with a human resources concentration or similar discipline
  • Current/active HR credentials required (includes SHRM, HRCI, or other comparable certifications requiring continued demonstration of competency and renewal)
  • Extensive experience in a generalist human resources role supporting a diverse customer group
  • Experience providing guidance through periods of high growth and change management
  • Must be demonstrate an ability to balance the daily operational needs of assigned business units while contributing towards longer-term strategic focus
  • Demonstrated experience in complex workplace investigations, including Title VII
