Landmark Health is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering with a background in developing big data applications and pipelines that are scalable, idempotent, self-healing, and serve the Landmark business's data needs. In this role, you will be responsible for the teams and tech that make up Landmark’s data engineering organization, as well as our Business Intelligence, Big Data and machine learning platforms, all of which power our company’s growth. This is a highly visible and strategic role where you will have stakeholders across the business, spanning our content, product, finance, and engineering groups.


Reporting to the VP Data Governance and Management, the Senior Director Data Engineering and BI Platform Services will be responsible for execution of the end-to-end vision of the Business Intelligence and Information Strategy, architecture, providing leadership, defining goals, tracking performance, developing teams and solutions, prioritizing projects and resources and execution of data programs.


The Senior Director Data Engineering and BI Platform Services will lead a team responsible for delivering enterprise BI, EDW and data needs, driving data analysis, and delivering key insights for our business.

About the Team

Data Platform Engineering and BI team plays a vital role of connecting data and insights for Landmark’s business stakeholders. Our data platform collects and processes from a rich set of client data sources and transforms this raw data into meaningful information. Data Engineering and BI team develops the data semantics, designs schemas, and builds technologies that process Landmark’s data into the views, reports, and dashboards that underlie Landmarks’ data driven decision making. This team mediates the relationship between data sources across the company and derived insights supporting our business, facilitating continuous improvements in data quality and practices along the way.


  • Your Background Includes

    • 12+ years’ experience leading technical teams.
    • You have managed and built a team before.
    • You’re a subject matter expert in big data and machine learning.
    • A good understanding of data architectures, data dictionaries and data lineages, and upstream/downstream semantic management.
    • The experience that give you a clear understanding of what it takes to scale a team over time.
    • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
    • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the BI and data organization to ensure it will contribute to the company achieving its goals.
    • Develop productive relationships with business partner teams across the organization to influence how BI and data architecture can enable new sources of value.
    • Manage BI and data group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.
    • Develop and evolve center of excellence for data, reporting, and analytics across all functions and business units
    • Transform and manage the data engineering and BI team, ensuring the proper mix of skills, including core business reporting, business alignment, data analysis and integrity, data engineering project delivery, and technological maintenance.
    • Develop and Manage Data Warehouse/Data Lake Cloud platform management/Governance and architecture in coordination with the infrastructure and operations teams
    • Manage all phases of full life-cycle implementation projects, including blueprinting, design, development, testing, UA, deployment and support.
    • Identify and remove obstacles, mitigate risks for flawless execution and solution delivery.
    • Establish and foster industry analytics research and benchmarking relationships and partnerships to leverage industry and technology knowledge and advancements
    • Establish and report Analytics Performance metrics, Service Level Agreements, and Key Performance Indicators
    • Create a culture across teams that drives successful delivery and adoption of technology and business process solutions

  • 12+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles within the technology function.
  • Proven senior applications leadership, identifying, designing, developing, implementing and supporting enterprise technology BI and data solutions.
  • Experience and understanding of a variety of analytical processes including but not limited to data governance, quality and measurement
  • Implementation experience with technologies such as: Cloudera, Hadoop, Hscale Platform, Tableau, Power BI, SSIS, Microsoft Technologies, Phyton, R
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people to enhance understanding and drive to decisions that lead to positive outcomes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment (as well as external vendors and service providers) to ensure that segregation and overlapping roles are identified and coordinated.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
  • Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in process formulation and improvement.
